2020 Event Information

During this unprecedented time, we thank you for your continued support of the Paul W. Smith Golf Classic benefitting children’s charities. We are full swing ahead for our 17th annual event on August 3 at the beautiful Detroit Golf Club. More importantly, 55,000 Detroit area youth served by Detroit PAL, The Children’s Foundation, The Children’s Center and Variety of Detroit will benefit!
We are thrilled to be moving forward with this event, but we understand some may have concerns about attending during these uncertain times. Please know that our tournament planning team is dedicated to providing a safe environment for our guests, working closely with the Detroit Golf Club and vendors on proper protocols to ensure a safe experience.
Please be mindful of just a few of the following protocols put in place to ensure the health and safety of our guests:
- Masks worn in Clubhouse at all times.
- Masks and personal hand sanitizer will be provided.
- Masks must be worn in large outdoor groups of 100 or more.
- Be aware of social distancing. (maintain 6 ft apart)
- Sanitization and dividers for each cart to ensure safety.
- Food and beverage safety measure
- Staff in place to ensure guests adhere to protocol in place

|10:30 a.m.||South Course Shotgun Start|
|11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.||Lunch and refreshments available on the golf course distributed by DCG staff (outside sunporch and halfway house)|
|3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m||Reception on the patio; hors d'oeuvres|
The tournament committee reserves the right to limit the number of years a team is allowed to win the Paul W. Smith Golf Classic to a total of two consecutive years.
Detroit Golf Club Dress Code
No jeans of any type of color, No spandex, No tennis attire or warm-ups on the golf courses, No changing clothes or shoes in the parking lots, No hats on the first floor (men only), All hats worn bill forward, Men's shirts must have collars and sleeves, All shirts must be tucked in, Women's shirts without sleeves must have a collar, No tube, halter or tank tops, Bermuda length shorts only, No long, baggy shorts.
Detroit Golf Club Smoking Policy
As a courtesy reminder, the entire Detroit Golf Club clubhouse, as well as external dining and service areas of the club, are in compliance with the state of Michigan non-smoking policy. The required non-smoking signs have been posted and all ashtrays and other smoking paraphernalia and receptacles have been removed. Detroit Golf Club has established a dedicated area within the appropriate distance from the clubhouse and service areas where smoking is allowed (no services are allowed in this area).
